This web site sets out some facets in the life of St. Matthias Church. We are an integral part of
the wider Anglican Church of Canada. This association is very important to us and brings about certain
deep rooted characteristics of our church life and the way we do things, generally falling under the
umbrella of "Anglicanism". If you are a newcomer, this web site is intended to let you know us better
- who we are, where we come from, and how we operate the church. You are invited to become part of
this enriching experience by participating in the worship and life of St. Matthias.
We welcome you to St. Matthias and we hope that you will find a church home here. Our Sunday worship
is the primary focus of our community. Our services are usually a service of Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion) from the
contemporary Book of Alternative Services. As well, we have an evening service every Tuesday at 7 pm, this is followed by
an hour and a half of bible study at 7:30 pm. We hope you will find that our worship deepens your faith and enables you to live
out that faith in the world.
Worship times:
Sunday 8:30 am and 10:00 am (both services are approximately 1 hour each)
Bible Study every Wednesday morning in the meeting room at 9:30 am. We study the readings for the following Sunday.
onWord Series
Held Tuesday evenings 07:30 to 09:00 at Taylor Seminary (11525-23 Ave). May 4 – June 1:
Journey through Scripture with the Arts, with various leaders. Drama, film, visual arts, music and photography will all be, used to
help us freshly encounter and understand Scripture. There is no fee for these study sessions.
On May 25, Dr Allan Effa will lead an art meditation, leading viewers through works of art that illuminate biblical texts.
These portrayals can shed new light on these familiar passages - come and "see" things that can easily be overlooked.
St. Matthias is not just a church building, but a community of believers. As the family of God we come
together to thank God for our life and to endeavor to serve God in all that we do. We also help our children
try and understand what the "love of God" means. Why don't you make a commitment and worship with us for a
period of time and I will be prepared to discuss with you your experience and feelings about God and our
community. We would love to serve you.
